Hawkins Electrical Construction of D.C. Named 2013 Subcontractor of the Year

Being held in high esteem by our customers and clients is a top priority at Hawkins Electric. We know we aren’t doing a good job unless you, the customer, think so.

That said, it’s also nice to earn respect from peers. So we were proud to learn last week that the Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington (http://www.abcmetrowashington.org/) and Virginia (http://www.abcva.org/) had named Hawkins Electrical Construction of Washington, D.C., its 2013 Subcontractor of the Year.

The honor was presented last Thursday at the 32nd Annual Excellence in Construction Awards dinner at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner. Hawkins – which also claimed the award in 2012 – won a vote of approximately 200 other general contractors in the ABC’s Metro Washington and Virginia chapters.

Shatzer, Hawkins’ president and CEO. “It shows that we have a do-whatever-it-takes attitude toward getting the job done, we are proactive and committed to moving the job forward. Those qualities make the contractor superintendent’s job much easier.”

The award is indicative of the impression a company makes in the Washington area construction industry, ABC program director Kim Collins said. The competition for the award each year is heavy, and seven other companies were nominated by the membership in 2013.
